Intro
Burning Glass Technologies is an analytics software company that has cracked the genetic code of an ever-changing labor market. Powered by the world’s largest and most sophisticated database of labor market data and talent, they deliver real-time data and breakthrough planning tools that inform careers, define academic programs, and shape workforces.
Insight
As an adult learner who wishes to return to education or a traditional age student who is graduating from high school and seeking a suitable program of study and/or educational institution. The Career insight widget iFrame embed on educational institutions web page typically have a tendency to come across as uninspiring to the user and needs a revamp to increase engagement.
Idea
Recreate the user experience and redesign the UI of Career insight widget white label product from the moment the users survey input returns results. Career Insight is intended to be embedded on an educational institution’s website. As such it should be visually designed such that it “blends in” to whichever institution site it is in. The widget must be responsive from mobile through to desktop.
My responsibilities
As the Experience Designer, I collaborated with the Data Journalist, Content writer, Information Designer and Web Developer to visualise the story we wanted to tell. I helped;
Conduct series of face-to-face client liaison workshop/meeting from kick off to final output of the project
Defined objectives of the story to change behaviour, raise empathy, inspire and enlighten
Developed the creative direction, style tile, wireframe, high fidelity design and animation

User stories / personas
Defining the user story gives clarity on the features to be considered for the experience. The data presented creates an in-depth insight as to what students can expect after completing a program of study and other career opportunities that might be of interest.
Hi-fi design - development
Great interaction design feel effortless to users. They omit unnecessary elements and use straightforward language. The best way to attain simplicity is through thoughtful reduction. Thus, we tried to achieve it by discussing every screen during our weekly calls and iterating until everyone was satisfied with the outcome.
